Walter L. Gee, 85, passed away Friday August 12, 2011 at McKinley Court Nursing Center in Decatur.

Graveside service for Walter will be Tuesday August 16, 2011 at Greenwood Cemetery. Dawson & Wikoff West Wood St. Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Walter was born on July 29, 1926 in Bronxville, New York, the son of Raleigh and Edith Foster Gee. He married Gertrude Porter on April 1, 1998 and she preceded him in death on March 13, 2001. Walter was a veteran of the Army serving in WWII and worked as a presser in the dry cleaning business.

Left to cherish fond memories are: special nieces and nephew Eva Sain, Phyllis Slaughter, Betty Taylor and Boast Sain who cared for Walter during his illness. Also a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Walter was an avid photographer.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents and wife Gertrude.

The family would like to give special thanks to the entire staff at McKinley Court Nursing Home and hospice. Special thanks to Rev. Betty Joy and Joe Roundtree for their prayers and visits to Mr. Gee.
